Pia Aragao and Interagro Lusitanos Ride in Clinic with Stefan Jansson

Itapira, Brazil (March 7, 2014 For the breeder and exporter Interagro Lusitanos and the trainers Pia Aragao and Stefan Jansson, sharing ideas and advice on riding techniques is important for professionals in the equine industry. Stefan Jansson of Sweden traveled to Brazil to allow Pia Aragao and others involved with Interagro Lusitanos (including the horses) to benefit from his training. At Jansson recent clinic, he and Aragao worked with Interagro Lusitanos horses to prepare for future competitions including the 2014 South American Dressage Championships.

Pia Aragao trains out of her own Sunset Dressage and works with many of Interagros horses in conjuction with Interagro head trainer, Martina Irene Brandes. Aragao and the Lusitano Zepelim Interagro were appointed to the Brazilian team Long List in preparation for the Pan Am and Olympic Games, and they took first place in the State Championship and second in the National Championship. The pair is now preparing to compete in the South American Dressage Championships this March. Aragao has also been National Champion at Third Level on a Lusitano, and won the Medium Level class at the FEI World Challenge.Interagro Lusitanos is the largest breeder and exporter of Lusitanos horses in the world. The picturesque farm is located just outside of Itapira, Brazil and currently holds 450 Lusitanos. In 2009, ABPSL named Interagro Lusitano Breeder of the Year. The Managing Director of Interagro is Cecilia Gonzaga, whose love for this breed is shared by the rest of her staff. Everyone who works at Interagro takes very seriously the importance of treating their horses with kindness and utmost attentiveness.

Since 1994, Aragao has been spending time training with Stefan Jansson of Varberg, Sweden. Jansson accomplishments include winning the Bronze Medal at the WBFSH Young Horse Championships in 2002, winning several Young Horses Championships throughout his career, and being consistently successful in Grand Prix Dressage. Jansson currently works training riders and horses in his business Stefan Jansson Dressage.

Jansson has assisted in training Aragao for such events as the Palm Beach Dressage Derby CDI, and at their recent clinic helped prepare her for Odesur, which is the South American Dressage Championships held on March 8-11, 2014 in Quilotta, Chile. This clinic, which took place in Holambra, Brazil, was the second clinic that Jansson held with Aragao and Interagro Lusitanos. The previous one was in Wellington, Florida in 2011.

Aragao and Jansson worked with Aragao usual mount the lovely gray Zepelim Interagro as well as seven other Lusitanos from Interagro. The skilled rider Ricardo Nardy participated alongside Aragao in Jansson clinic. Aragao says that they held the clinic o get better prepared for the competitions of 2014. They worked on basic skills and techniques with most of the horses, and focused on training for the South American Dressage Championships with Zepelim Interagro. always important to have some good eyes from the ground, and get a little bit of tune-ups. Aragao said after the clinic, appreciative of Jansson training. Of Aragao, Jansson said am excited to follow her career and assist her as she competes.

Founded in 1975 by Dr. Paulo Gavio Gonzaga to preserve the Lusitano breed, Interagro Lusitanos is the worlds largest breeder and exporter of Lusitano horses. Dr. Gonzaga started with a small band of four mares and one stallion imported to Brazil from the breeds native Portugal, and since that first generation has produced more than 2,185 Lusitanos. Today, 450 horses populate Interagro’s 1200-acre, six-barn showplace ranch (which has appeared on the covers of 21 international magazines). In 2009, Interagro was recognized as ABPSL ‘Lusitano Breeder of the Year.
