Itapira, Brazil (July 22, 2014) – Trying to select a horse in today’s market can be daunting. One look at the herds of Luistanos grazing in the fields of Interagro Lusitanos in Brazil and buyers can be overwhelmed just by the selection available. But Americans looking to find an exceptional Lusitano no longer have to go it alone, as Peter van Borst, the US Sales Representative to Interagro Lusitanos, is now offering his expertise in the breed to help buyers select the perfect horse for them. Van Borst will be traveling to Interagro in August to view horses in training and scout potential sales prospects; the diversity of animals offered for sale can make choosing the best mount an enormous task, but buyers now have decades of experience and knowledge on their side.
Van Borst has spent years working with and training Lusitanos, studying their bloodlines, history, and future as a sporthorse. His relationship with the founders of Interagro, the Gonzaga family, has enjoyed a long 19 year history. The combination of the Interagro’s horses and breeding with van Borst’s insight and experience are unmatched in providing exceptional service and advice for Lusitano buyers.
Interagro is a unique experience for any visitor, but especially for those looking to take home a new mount. In addition to the pure lines preserved through years of careful breeding, Interagro’s horses boast the athleticism, beauty, and trainability to be competitive in a wide range of FEI disciplines. Buyers will not only be able to view prospects individually, but also have the chance to study sires, dams, siblings, and relatives going back generations. Because of their close relationship with Interagro’s owners and knowledge of the breed, van Borst and Interagro’s dedicated staff have insight into the geneologies and history of each of the Interagro bloodlines. This kind of multifaceted knowledge of temperament, conformation, movement and overall suitability for various disciplines can help buyers be sure they are selecting the perfect Lusitano from Interagro’s vast herd.
Van Borst and Interagro will provide the ultimate buyer experience: venture with him to view the horses or he will travel to Interagro in the buyer’s stead to scout possible mounts, leaving buyers to sit back and browse through a selection of handpicked options. He will also provide photos, video and a riding or driving assessment of each horse the buyer is interested in. From an FEI level dressage or driving prospect to a flashy, well mannered working equitation mount or even a pleasure riding horse, Interagro offers a wealth of options and the knowledge of experts to guide buyers on their search.
Interagro’s website gives a sampling of Lusitanos currently for sale, including a number of exceptional under saddle propects: the stunning Falcone Interagro, a 2009 dapple gray stallion with an exceptional uphill build; Flamboyant Interagro, a 2009 black stallion with the athleticism for the upper levels of dressage; and Dior Interagro, a 2007 gelding with the power to excel in working equitation or dressage.
Founded in 1975 by Dr. Paulo Gavião Gonzaga to preserve the Lusitano breed, Interagro Lusitanos is the world’s largest breeder and exporter of Lusitano horses. Dr. Gonzaga started with a small band of four mares and one stallion imported to Brazil from the breed’s native Portugal, and since that first generation has produced more than 2,185 Lusitanos. Today, 450 horses populate Interagro’s 1200-acre, six-barn showplace ranch (which has appeared on the covers of 21 international magazines). In 2009, Interagro was recognized as ABPSL ‘Lusitano Breeder of the Year.’
