17th Interagro Yearlings Auction: Tradition Meets Innovation in Annual Lusitano Sporthorse Showcase
Itapira, SP, Brazil (August 19, 2017) – Since the 1990s, Interagro Lusitanos of Brazil has been offering a choice selection of their best yearlings at auction. Now in its 17th consecutive year, the Leilão de Potros Interagro (Interagro Yearlings Auction) will once again showcase some of the farm’s best Lusitano yearlings, demonstrating the quality and breeding standards that have become synonymous with the Interagro brand. Fourteen handpicked colts and fillies from the farm’s N Generation, as well as a breeding from dressage champion Fellini Interagro, will go under the gavel on September 2, 2017 at the Brazilian stud and training center in Itapira, Sao Paulo.
Interagro’s legacy of innovative breeding and the preservation of the purest Lusitano bloodlines can be seen in the elegance and grace of its 2017 generation. Even as yearlings, the Interagro sporthorse demonstrates the temperament, conformation, and movement characteristic of the modern Lusitano. Nearly 500 PSL (Puro Sangue Lusitano) horses have been auctioned at Interagro, and the farm is currently the largest breeder and exporter of Lusitanos in the world.

Interagro’s Yearling Auction is a pioneering event within the Lusitano market; it became the first private auction of purebred Lusitano horses in the world during its debut event, June 8, 1992. The popularity and longevity of Interagro’s Yearlings Auction can be attributed to its unique offerings: younger horses at lower prices; exceptional and rare pedigrees; a fluid, uncomplicated, and straightforward bidding process. But the true value of the Yearling Auction can be found in the quality, beauty, and overall successes of the horses it has presented and ultimately sold. Throughout the years, horses presented at the Interagro Yearlings Auction have gone on to decorated careers in dressage, driving, working equitation, and halter classes under the guidance of their new owners, and have been exported to and are competing on four continents.
This truncated list of horses, separated by discipline and with the year sold in parentheses, provides a snapshot of the quality and talent to once again be auctioned at Interagro:

The rich history and modern success of the farm, its auction, and its progeny across nearly two decades writes its newest chapter this September, as Interagro continues to be a benchmark for the evolution and development of the Lusitano sporthorse.
With over 40 years of experience breeding, training, and exporting Lusitanos, Interagro’s mission is to preserve the exceptional bloodlines and qualities of the breed while showcasing their talent, beauty, and intelligence, especially in the FEI and sport horse disciplines. Established in 1975, Interagro’s initial vision was to preserve and restore the original foundational Lusitano bloodlines and lineages, many of which were in danger of extinction following the Portuguese Revolution of 1974. Through meticulous breeding, exceptional care, and world-class training, the Interagro Lusitanos of today continue that legacy as they compete across four continents.
