Hectar Interagro Secures 2024 Lusitano Open and Dressage Horse of the Year Rankings
Wellington, FL (November 25, 2024) – With the 2024 show season wrapped, Hectar Interago has earned multiple Open Lusitano and Horse of the Year rankings to his name. The 2011 bay gelding (Profano Interagro x Cassandra Interagro) is quickly becoming one of Interagro’s most successful FEI competitors. With median scores of 68.824% and 69.118% at the Intermediate and Prix St. Georges level, Hectar, with rider and trainer Tiago Ernesto in the irons, ranked 27th and 37th in the overall Dressage Horse of the Year standings. In addition, he is the #1 ranked Open US Lusitano at Prix St. Georges, and #2 ranked Open US Lusitano at Intermediare I.
Bred and imported to the United States in 2022 by Interagro Lusitanos of Brazil, Hectar’s blaze bears an uncanny resemblance to his home nation and is a highlight to his striking appearance, talent, and movement. Hectar Interagro initially was developed as a driving horse, a speciality in which Interagro excels and has produced many top horses. However, his exceptional gaits, conformation, and aptitude for collection prompted a career change, and it quickly became apparent that the horse inherited not only the athleticism but also the rideability and extraordinary mind for which Interagro has been breeding since 1974.
During their 2024 campaign, Ernesto and Hectar showed at the Adequan Global Dressage Festival, TerraNova Dressage, and World Equestrian Center show series. Their high scores for the year was a 73.382% and 72.5% in February, and in 2023 they were awarded USDF Prix St. Georges/Intermediare I High Score Lusitano (PSL).
“Hectar is a tribute to his breeding, and Interagro’s legacy,” said Tiago Ernesto, who trains Hectar out of his Elite Horse Academy in Loxahatchee Groves, Florida. “He is so naturally talented, everything from lateral work to the most advanced collection comes so easy to him. He is also a complete workman, dedicated to pleasing his rider and delivering a 100% effort in every ride. Combined with his amazing gaits, he really is the total package for a sporthorse and it has been a pleasure to campaign him for Interagro the last two years.”
